Maple Leaf Ridge Canmore Home

Have you ever stayed on vacation for a month or longer? We had not, and when the idea came up to vacate our home during some major renovations, we didn’t have to think too hard on where we would like to temporarily reside. The Rocky Mountains have long been a favourite destination for our family, and the idea of spending an extended time there appealed to us in so many ways.

Because Warren and our son both needed space to work remotely, we had to find a place with enough space for us to comfortably work, relax, and spread out! We feel so blessed to have found this incredible home available, and could not have imagined the memorable month that lay ahead.

Arriving in the black of night (it gets dark early in the mountains), we made our way up the Silvertip winding roadway and found what would be our refuge from October 1 - 29. Other than a few photos on the web, we really had no idea what to expect so we used the security code, parked both of our vehicles comfortably in the oversized garage and made our way into the house.

The oversized foyer (are you sensing the theme already?) was awe inspiring and we at once saw the black starry sky through the ginormous skylight. Wow, we were in for a treat! We explored the house to find plenty of space for us to spread out, chose our bedrooms and work spaces (there are three) and settled in for the night.

Next morning brought fresh views of the mountainside towering trees, and a sunrise kissing the mountains in view. Breathtaking, and our new way to greet the day. I will miss this view the most.

This home leaves nothing to long for. The kitchen is fully (and I mean fully) stocked with day to day tableware, glasses for water and wine, a fun assortment of coffee mugs that have you deciding each day where you want to be (Starbucks YOU ARE HERE Collection!). We got to try the Ninja Foodi several times which was a great way to “test drive” it since it’s been on our radar for some time now. Loved the chicken wings we cooked up! Snooping in all of the many kitchen drawers and cabinets, we found a chocolate fondu, cake decorating tools and pans, pie plates, every size pot and pan imaginable, food processer, mix master (all high quality, and most things still new, I might add), large bamboo salad bowls and so much more. A wide assortment of teas and coffees, every spice you can imagine, olive oil and balsamic, and even a starter amount of sugar, flour. and coffee. This modern kitchen is a dream.

For relaxing after the work day is done, we chose the open concept living room with a couch long enough for two toe-to-toe! Plenty of additional seating and my favourite, a comfy lounger to sink into for our favourite episodes of Breaking Bad. We didn’t use the wood fireplace, although if we had, there’s a winters supply of fresh cut wood behind the house. We made plenty of use of the gas fireplace in the eating area, and enjoyed the beautiful ultra long dining table while we ate meals, played games, shared laughs, and entertained family and friends who came to visit.

Our stay took us through the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, and our daughter and her man came down to enjoy some family time together. And on several occasions a few other couple friends dropped by. We seemed to span three seasons during our short 4 week stay! Cooking together, playing games, exploring Canmore and Banff, we all agreed this could be an incredible getaway spot for many years to come.

My husband, and son and I felt very spoiled each evening as we unwound from a day of hiking, biking, or working, in the oversized (yep there’s that word again) hot tub located on one of the three decks! The black night sky over head was filled with stars, satalites and shooting stars that we don’t have the pleasure of viewing so clearly at home. The back of the house is quite private, flanked only by towering pine trees, and the sound of squirrels and chipmunks chattering, and the odd coyote hooting in the distance. Speaking of wildlife, a family of 6 deer frequented the yard, which definitly added to this wonderland getaway!

The Rockies Rentals property management company was a pleasure to deal with and any question or issue we had upon moving in was dealt with swiftly and completely. We felt safe, secure, and at home all month long.

In my opinion, this home is a must rent for anyone with a bit of time to spare and a soft spot for natural beauty. Come to Canmore Alberta, stay at the Maple Leaf, and you may never want to go home.
